The MusicSponge mission is simple - for every artist with a record deal, there are a thousand talented artists chasing that dream and a million new music fans who will never get to hear or see their music. We're changing all that - bringing these artists and fans together, getting the music out and giving the music industry a cool new way to discover new music. At the heart of it all, MusicSponge is about letting everyone see the music and to let the music speak for itself, and letting the artist speak directly to their peers. We remain committed to the independent musician and will continue to bring you the future of music. Our goal at MusicSponge is to bring the music artist as close as possible to the music industry. As you know, we do that by providing a venue for artists to have potentially global exposure via the web. And....BTW: MusicSponge is Free. Why should we charge the struggling or not so struggling artist? We want to give you a marketing and promotion advantage and the best way to do this is to offer the best features at no charge.
Jack Funk began working with bands when he was just a young'n. He'd cut school just to do gig's with friends bands in Chicago and has been in love with the lifestyle since. Since the early 80s, Jack has been touring with signed bands and tours worldwide to this day, helping bands find players, get show dates, agents, better exposure. He has managed and booked music venues and handled all facets of live music production.
As Director of Entertainment for several large music venues, Jack was expected to scout and book prospective acts. He would receive hundreds of CDs, heaps of press kits. Drowning in a sea of paper, plastic and cardboard, he began dreaming of a place where he (or any promoter, booking agent, artist rep, record company, club owner, event planner or average Joe) could be introduced to musicians/bands, hear their acts, see their videos, check out photos, read their press-kit - all without leaving the comforts of his office. For Jack, that place became MusicSponge.
